Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC)

The CMC is the sole seller of Ghana’s cocoa to local processing companies, as well as the international market. It is a subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board, established in 1961. The Company was incorporated in 1961 to perform the following functions: to promote, sell and deliver Ghana’s cocoa to both local cocoa processors and international traders and processors. To accept the delivery of Ghana’s cocoa and store it at its designated warehouses in Tema, Takoradi and Kumasi. To support the financing of Ghana’s cocoa sector by facilitating the annual syndicated loan arrangements and to ensure that sales proceeds are collected towards the repayment of the loan.

Cocoa Merchants’ Association of America (CMAA)

The Cocoa Merchants’ Association of America was founded in 1924. Its purpose is to foster the trade and welfare of the cocoa industry in the United States and by mutual cooperation and joint action promote the interests of those engaged in the business. To reform abuses, to secure freedom from unjust or unlawful exactions, to diffuse accurate and reliable information as to the standing of merchants and other matters, to procure uniformity and certainty in the trade, and to settle differences between its members.

Federation of Cocoa Commerce (FCC)

The main aims of the Federation are to promote, protect and regulate the trade in cocoa beans and cocoa products and to support and safeguard the status and interests of its members. These objectives are principally delivered through their harmonized cocoa contract and arbitration services. The Federation continues to encourage uniformity in commercial trade practices and high standards of service from those involved in the cocoa supply chain.

Nederlandse Cacao Sociëteit (NCS)

This is the Dutch Cocoa Association. Members include Dutch companies like trading houses, grinders, shipping companies, warehouse keepers, transport companies, et cetera, all of them involved in the cocoa industry. Twice a year the NCS organises a dinner at an alternating location.
